CEO Message
These are exciting times for the cruise industry and MHS is excited to be part of it. The increased volume of passengers and ever larger newbuilds have placed significant challenges in the hands of those who provide medical care for cruise ship passengers and crew. New medical technologies and discoveries make the challenges even tougher. Add on regulatory requirements and environmental awareness and it really becomes a burden.

That's what we're here for - to lighten that burden. We're the specialists in shipboard healthcare. We know medicine from top to bottom and we know cruising inside out. We can handle any shipboard healthcare problem you can throw at us, from a simple equipment consultation to a complete turnkey medical department. If you need help with a cruise medical problem call a specialist - Maritime Health Systems.

Mission Statement
Our goal is to become the cruise shipping industry's leading source for healthcare-related expertise in all areas: clinical, administrative, personnel, and operations.

Company Background

Maritime Medical Systems was started in 1992 by a group of 6 Emergency Medicine specialists with cruise medicine experience. The company's first full departmental contract was with Regency Cruises, and we ran the medical department for that line until it's demise.
In 1995 the company reorganized. Maritime Medical Systems specialized in medical personnel and staffing and a new company, Maritime Health Systems, was formed. MHS took over all the operations and consulting aspects of the business. The two companies worked closely together.
In 1996 the company signed on Commodore Cruise line and began operating its medical department. Consulting contracts with Renaissance Cruises followed in 1997 and we designed the ship infirmaries for the R One and R Two newbuilds.
In early 1998 MHS started up the Health Center on the new M/S Disney Magic for Disney Cruise Lines and embarked on a project to develop a computerized medical records system for cruise line medical departments.. The first version of this system, CruiseDoc, was put into operation in 1999. In 2002 a new company was formed to further develop the cruise line medical information management system. The system was rewritten and expanded. In December 2002 MHS released version 2 of CruiseDoc.
